2.3 The XSW Tree Tabs
The Compliance PRO (XSW) functions are divided into seven categories as shown in
the XSW Main tab in the previous section 2.1, “The XSW Main Treeview Tab.”
You can define up to three additional tree tabs to reference specific System Policies,
Best Practices, Integrity Checks, and Access Maps under alternate naming
conventions. These three additional tabs can be used for any purpose. The most
common of these is PCI, SOX and HIPAA rules that relate specifically to an alternate
naming convention.
XSW is delivered with PCI, SOX, and HIPAA rules cross-referenced from XSW Main
policies to the associated government regulation identification. If any of these do not
apply to your organization, you can delete the references and the tab.
2.3.1 Understanding Tree Tabs Reports
The alternate tree tab reports allow you to cross-reference policies from the XSW Main
tab to alternative naming conventions, such as PCI, SOX and HIPAA. Many of the
policies that XSW performs automatically relate to the PCI regulations, but are not
identified on the XSW Main tab in a manner that makes it easy to identify them. The
use of the PCI tree tab, relates these two naming conventions.
If you do not need one or any of the PCI, SOX or HIPAA tree tabs, you may delete
them or rename them for any other use.
Names on the alternate tree tabs are only applied as node centric. Integrity Checks,
Best Practices and Access Maps are also node centric on the XSW Main tab, but in
the case of System Policies that might span nodes, the cross-referenced policy on the
alternate tree tab will report on only the part of the System Policy that applies to this
node.
The alternate tree tab allows you to view and report on the System Policies, Integrity
Checks, Best Practices and Access Maps regardless of their origin on the XSW Main
tab, organized under a consistent alternate naming convention. No data is transferred
or duplicated for the alternate tree tabs. The new name is stored as a reference only
for the underlying policy.
2.3.2 Tree Tab Names
Tree tab names can be up to eight-characters long. A maximum of three additional
tabs to the XSW Main tab are allowed.
To delete a tab, right-click on the tab name and select Delete Tab. Deleting a tab also
deletes any rules that have been associated with this tab name.
