4.5 Exporting Results for Policies
XSW allows you to export the data of a System Policy, Integrity Check, Best Practice
category or Access Map. The exported file is then accessible by an external
application for the following purposes:
To use auto-export to an external platform
To provide data to an external reporting tool
To provide data that will be integrated into a company-wide database application
To provide data to a group that does not use the XSW GUI interface
To be a reference file to a document that defines your current corporate security
policy or auditing checklist.
Note: The high-level setup of auto-export is determined in the User Preferences in
section 3.2 starting on page 47 (refer to Auto-export Options, items 15 to 20).
Each policy or map Auto-export can be individually turned ON or OFF.
The initial auto-export set up is performed via the GUI, but the continuing automatic
export is performed via the xswLoader module.
Auto-export is set up as a reference when creating or updating a policy. However, it is
controlled by settings in the User Preferences screen. The following must be true for
auto-export to work as expected:
The Preferences must be set up to allow auto-export file generation.
The Preferences must be set up to allow auto-export file generation for the type of
policy that you are requesting.
The file location assigned to auto-export must be available for files to be created by
your PC user.
Each specific policy can be set to YES or NO for auto-export of the results of this
policy or map.
