Chapter 6. Configuring MOVERs

Example 1: Sample default MOVER Serverclass names

If a second Safeguard MOVER was added to \PROD1, XMA would assign the name
SFG-DEV1-02, and so on.
Choose the names for each MOVER Serverclass when you create it. You might want
to use the name to indicate whether or not the MOVER is only alerting, only updating
the database (“collecting”), or doing both.
In Example 2 below, the user has adopted a naming convention that uses a "sequence
number" of A# to indicate Alert-Only MOVERs, C# to indicate Collect-Only MOVERs,
and B# to indicate MOVERs that do both alerting and collecting. Assume that \DEV1 is
where the XMA Pathway is running.
Example 2: Sample Customized MOVER Serverclass names

On \DEV1 there is a XAC MOVER, XAC-DEV-B1, both alerting and collecting. There is
an XUA MOVER, XUA-DEV-B1, B(oth) alerting and collecting. And there is a
Safeguard MOVER SFG-DEV-B1, B(oth) alerting and collecting.
The following MOVERs reside on \PROD:
MOVERs Description
Alert-Only XAC MOVER XAC-PROD1-A1. Runs all the time and generates alerts
close to real time.
Collect-Only XAC MOVER XAC-PROD1-C1. Wakes up at the configured time to write
the day’s XAC audit activity to the database on \DEV1.
Alert-Only XUA MOVER,
XUA-PROD1-A1.
Runs all the time and generates alerts close to real time.
Collect-Only XUA MOVER XUA-PROD1-C1. Wakes up at the configured time to write
the day’s XUA audit activity to the database on \DEV1.
Safeguard MOVER SFG-PROD1-B that is both alerting and collecting.
Note: You cannot choose names for your MOVER Serverclasses when you use the
Discovery option. The MOVERs will be assigned the default names.
