Message Codes in Numeric Order:
400 – user valid
451 – denied
500 – Password too short
401 – password expired 452 – maybe 501 – Password too long
402 – user expired
453 – passed
502 – Password qual denied
403 – user failed
454 – failed
503 – Password qual reject
404 – user frozen
455 – no record
504 – Password invalid
405 – password invalid 456 – other 505 – Password embedblanks
406 – user invalid
457 – partial success

Note that “454 – Failed” is not a denial. It is Safeguard’s way of saying that it allowed
the access, but the operation failed anyway, for non-security reasons. The most
common occurrence of an OUTCOME 454 – failed is a program, such BACKUP,
attempting to read an open file.
