XYGATE User Authentication Reference Manual
XYPRO Technology Corporation xvii Proprietary and Confidential
Introduction
Welcome to the XYGATE
®
User Authentication
™
product software from XYPRO
Technology Corporation for the HP NonStop
™
server. XYGATE User Authentication
(XUA) was developed to fill the need for a user authentication tool to enhance
Safeguard. XUA expands upon security functions native to NonStop systems,
providing enhancements such as multi-factor authentication, sophisticated error
management options and logon-specific audit reporting.
XUA utilizes the SEEP (Security Event Exit Process) interface supplied by Safeguard
to participate in the logon process on the NonStop server. It requires that Safeguard
be installed and running on the system.
Feature Highlights
This section describes the main features of the XYGATEUA software.
Easy to Maintain
As with all members of the XYGATE security family, XUA supports user profiles
(ACLGROUPs), which allow users and aliases to be grouped by function, making the
manipulation of a user in the security system a single operation, rather than the
modification of multiple records.
User-Specific Logon Control
Unlike Safeguard, XUA lets you configure settings such as PASSWORD_REQUIRED,
PASSWORD_MAY_CHANGE, AUTHENTICATE_FAIL_FREEZE,
AUTHENTICATE_FAIL_TIMEOUT, and AUTHENTICATE_MAXIMUM_ATTEMPTS on
a per user basis as well as globally.
Ancestor-Specific Logon Control
XUA lets you configure logons based on the ancestor of the process that is requesting
the logon. This is described in Chapter 3.
Port-Specific Logon Control
XUA lets you configure logons specific to ports. The PORT can be specified using the
IP address or the Terminal name. This is described in Chapter 4.
Requestor-Specific Logon Control
XUA lets you configure logons based on the object file of the process that is requesting
the logon. This is described in Chapter 5.
