HP SANworks Storage Allocation Reporter V1.0D SP2 Application Note (AA-RS2RD-TE, December 2002)

Known Issues and Workarounds
9Application Note – Storage Allocation Reporter V1.0D SP2
Alliance Restore to a Different Appliance
Problem: When performing a Restore from a backup to a different Appliance, SAR does not launch on
the restored Appliance.
Solution: After Restore is complete, the DSN points to the old database. A problem will occur if
Restore is performed from a backup to a different Appliance. If the backup is from Appliance A, and
the Restore is performed on Appliance A, then there is no Restore problem.
To workaround this problem, follow the procedure below:
1. Manually change the DSN entry to point to the new database, after the restore is done.
To modify the DSN entry, go to Administrative Tools->Data Sources (ODBC). Select “System
DSN”, “SRMDB” and click on “Configure” and go to the below mentioned screen (without doing
any modifications on the previous two screens). At this point, modify the default database to the
backed up database (newly restored). Complete the rest of the configuration without any further
modifications. See the following menu screen for an example.
.
2. Reinstall SAR 1.0D SP2.
