OpenView Storage Provisioner v1.1 - Release Notes
Storage Provisioner Issues
11OpenView Storage Provisioner Release Notes
Help content may not display on some Solaris systems
Some Solaris systems may experience difficulty displaying the content of
some help screens. This is caused by version-level issues with the JRE and the
Help System. If you are experiencing difficulty displaying help content on
Solaris, the Help system is also available in Adobe Acrobat form on the
installation CD. The file names are:
■ ConsumerHelp.pdf
■ ProviderHelp.pdf
Using connection offsets (HSG-based storage systems)
Connection offsets are sometimes used to help storage administrators
organize volumes using the LUN number seen by the host. However, Storage
Provisioner does not use connection offsets. If your storage system is already
configured using connection offsets, volumes may be hidden from the desired
host. Additionally, the LUN seen by the host will differ from the LUN in
Storage Provisioner by the amount of the connection offset. For example:
D1 is the volume and 0 is the connection offset; 1 is the LUN.
D1 is the volume and 10 is the connection offset; -9 is the LUN (1-10), an
invalid number.
For Storage Provisioner to properly assign a LUN, reset the connection offsets
on each host (refer to the host user documentation for instructions to reset the
connection offsets).
File and folder name character limitations
If you are naming folders or files for saving a database or saving a file to export
data, the name is limited to 30 characters or less.
Enabling volumes to a host
For Storage Provisioner to properly enable volumes, a host must be physically
connected to the storage utility. If a customer defines a host and path to an
HSG-based utility and creates a volume on that path before the host is
physically connected, then the host cannot use that volume.
To enable volumes to hosts:
1. Physically attach the host to the utility.
2. Use the Storage Utility Access wizard to enable the volumes in Storage
Provisioner. See “Accessing Quotas” in online help or the HP OpenView
Storage Provisioner User’s Guide for instructions.
