About Storage Provisioner
HP OpenView Storage Provisioner enables storage providers
and consumers to manage storage utilities, customize service
levels, and access storage requirements. Storage Provisioner
resides on the Storage Management Appliance (SMA). It
provides provisioning for storage requirements with the HP
StorageWorks HSG-based and HSV-based controllers. Using
Storage Provisioner, you can:
■ Manage storage systems, storage utilities, service levels,
and customer accounts.
■ Discover and manage storage systems.
■ Create, modify, and delete customers, groups, utilities, and
service levels.
■ Create, modify, and delete hosts, paths, and volumes.
■ View storage history and current usage.
■ Export and print provisioning information.
■ Backup and restore configuration data.
Element Manager Note
The HSG Element Manager has recently been renamed to
Command View HSG. This document uses the terms HSG
Element Manager and Command View HSG interchangeably.
Pre-Installation Requirements
Before installing Storage Provisioner, you should confirm that
the system and software requirements have been met. For detail

System Requirements
■ HP StorageWorks HSG-based Controllers using ACS V8.6
or ACS V8.7 firmware, including:
— HP StorageWorks MA/RA8000
— HP StorageWorks EMA/ESA12000
— HP StorageWorks EMA16000
■ HP StorageWorks HSV-based Controllers using VCS V2.0
or V3.0 firmware.
— HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA)
■ HP OpenView Storage Management Appliance
Supported Software Versions
■ HP OpenView Management Appliance Software Update
version 2.0 (SP1a).
■ HP Command View HSG V1.0e (for HSG controllers)
(Recently renamed from HSG Element Manager).
■ HP Command View EVA V3.0 (for HSV Controllers)
(Recently renamed from HSV Element Manager).
■ Supported browsers for the workstation you will use to
browse to the Management Appliance. See “Supported
Browser and Host OS Matrix.”
■ Install the JAVA™ Run time Environment, version 1.3.1 on
the computer used to browse into the SMA.
