To complete this wizard, you will need the following information:
• A name for the management group.
• A storage system discovered on the network and then configured for RAID and the TCP/IP
Network settings
• DNS domain name, suffix, and server IP address for email event notification
• IP address or hostname and port of your email (SMTP) server for event notification
• A name for the cluster
• Virtual IP address to use for the cluster
• A name for the volume
• The size of the volume
NOTE: Names of management groups, clusters, volumes, and snapshots cannot be changed in
the future without destroying the management group.
Enabling server access to volumes
Use the Assign Volume and Snapshot wizard to prepare the volume for server access. You set up
application servers in the management group, then assign volumes to the servers. See “Controlling
server access to volumes” (page 197) for a complete discussion of these functions.
To work through the Assign Volume and Snapshot wizard, you must first have created a management
group, cluster, and at least one volume. You should also plan the following:
• The application servers that need access to volumes.
• The iSCSI initiator you plan to use. You need the server’s initiator name, and CHAP information
if you plan to use CHAP.
