Finding Disk Drive Firmware Images

The Bundled Image files contained on this website contain all firmware images for supported devices in the

P6000/EVA.

• For the EVA3000/5000, EVA4000/6000/8000, EVA4100/6100/8100 and EVA4400/6400/8400

families, download the HP EVA FC Hard Disk Drive Firmware Bundle.

• For the P6000 array family, download the HP P6000 EVA SAS Hard Disk Drive Firmware Bundle.

This document provides an overview of the procedure to update firmware. Full instructions for updating hard

disk drive firmware are available in the HP Enterprise Virtual Array Updating Product Software Guide.

HP recommends that you use the bundled image method for hard disk drive firmware upgrades. Using this

method, HP 6000 Command View systematically reviews and updates all drives in your array as needed.

For instances when all devices are being upgraded together, save the bundled image to a location accessible

from the system on which the browser is accessing HP P6000 Command View.

Older EVAs do not support the bundled image method, and you must manually update firmware on individual

devices. To update firmware on a single device, use the following procedure.

To access and use individual device firmware files from the Bundled Image File:

1. Create a local location for the Bundled Image (for example, HP Disk Firmware)

2. Download the applicable bundled image to the location that you created in Step 1.

• For the EVA3000/5000, EVA4000/6000/8000, EVA4100/6100/8100 and

EVA4400/6400/8400 families, download the HP EVA FC Hard Disk Drive Firmware Bundle.

• For the P6000 array family, download the HP P6000 EVA SAS Hard Disk Drive Firmware Bundle.

3. In the location where the bundled image was placed, extract all firmware files.

NOTE: If you are expanding both bundled images, you must place the files in separate folders.

4. Using HP P6000 Command View, select the firmware image for the device being updated: a. From the Navigation Pane, select the storage system being updated. b. From the Navigation Pane, open the hardware, disk enclosure, and bay for the disk drive (for example, select ‘Disk Enclosure 1’ and ‘Bay 5’). The Disk Enclosure Bay Properties page opens. c. d. Click the Disk Drive tab. Click Code load. The Code Load Disk Drive page opens. e. f. Navigate to the firmware image file that you want to load.
