Directly entering a key code

For details about the panel used in the following procedure, see the HP XP7 for Business Continuity
Manager Reference Guide.
To directly enter a key code:
1. Create a license information dataset.

information datasets” (page 40). For details about license information dataset names, see
“Naming license information datasets” (page 40).
2. Start Business Continuity Manager.

The key code is installed in the license information dataset as the license key.
The YK9001I message is output if the license key is installed correctly.
5. Use the Manage Licenses panel to confirm that the licenses have been installed correctly.
NOTE: If you enter the key code for Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe in the Manage
Licenses panel, the license key for Tiered Storage Manager for Mainframe can also be installed.
Working with license keys
Use the following guidelines for working with license keys:
You cannot use license keys obtained for Business Continuity Manager 5.03 or earlier with
this version of Business Continuity Manager.
Do not delete the license information dataset. Business Continuity Manager requires the license
information dataset, and if it is deleted, Business Continuity Manager cannot be used.
Do not use editors or similar applications to edit the license information dataset. Doing so
may result in Business Continuity Manager becoming inoperable.
If the specified license key is invalid, all or part of Business Continuity Manager will not be
available. Make sure that you enter the correct license key.
If an I/O error occurs for the license dataset, it is assumed that no license key exists.
If you use the YKSETENV command to set or change the license information dataset name
while Business Continuity Manager is running, CLI commands that are being executed will be
executed using the previously set value. The updated license information dataset name will
take effect after the YKLOAD command is executed.
