CASpecify the fence level (required
for CA).
FENCE LVL
• When the YKMAKE
command is executed
• DATA: Places P-VOL in fence
status (updates suppressed)
• When the YKRESYNC
command is executed
when updates in P-VOL cannot
be copied to S-VOL due to a
problem such as a failure.
• STATUS: Places P-VOL in
fence status (updates
suppressed) when updates in
P-VOL cannot be copied to
S-VOL due to a problem such
as a failure. If the operation
from the primary site attains
the suspend status, updates to
P-VOL are accepted.
• NEVER: P-VOL is never in
fence status (updates
suppressed). When a copy
pair is suspended, updates to
P-VOL are accepted.
NOTE:
• FENCE LVL cannot be altered
when a C/T group ID is
specified.
• For the system volume that is
used for control by the OS or
applications such as Business
Continuity Manager, specify
DATA or STATUS for FENCE
LVL to create a copy pair and
operate the system. Write to
P-VOL is prohibited and the
OS or application might hang
when a failure problem
occurs. For that reason, if you
use the system volume as a
CA copy pair, specify NEVER
for FENCE LVL or set the
system volume itself not to CA
copy the pair.
