Compatible XRC S-VOL functioning as Compatible FlashCopy source volume
The following figure shows the configuration in which a volume is functioning as both a Compatible
XRC source volume and a Compatible FlashCopy S-VOL (source volume). In this configuration,
data is copied from the primary site to the secondary site using Compatible XRC, and it is copied
within the secondary site using Compatible FlashCopy.
Compatible XRC P-VOL and S-VOL both functioning as Compatible FlashCopy source
volumes
The following figure shows the configuration in which one volume is functioning as both a
Compatible XRC P-VOL and a Compatible FlashCopy source volume, and another volume is
functioning as both a Compatible XRC S-VOL and a Compatible FlashCopy source volume. In this
configuration, data is copied within the primary site using Compatible FlashCopy, and then it is
copied within the secondary site using Compatible FlashCopy.
Using Compatible XRC with Hyper Parallel Access Volumes
If you have the FICONĀ® Data Migration service and are using Compatible XRC replication while
volumes are being migrated, do not use Parallel Access Volumes with the migrating volumes. The
simplest way to do this is to set the Parallel Access Volumes alias assignments to 0 (zero) for each
control unit, using Remote Web Console. Once the migration is complete, the aliases can be
reconfigured.
