HP XP7 Continuous Access Journal for Mainframe Systems User Guide (TK911-96001)

Recovering from local and remote site failure (3DC multi-target)
Host operations are transferred to the Continuous Access Journal Z S-VOL in the remote site when
a disaster or failure occurs in both the primary and Continuous Access Synchronous Z intermediate
sites in a 3DC multi-target configuration. Failures are corrected at the two sites and then host
operations are transferred back to the local site.
Procedure 40 To recover a primary and Cnt Ac-S Z intermediate site failure
1. Run the YKSUSPND REVERSE command on the Cnt Ac-J Z pair.
2. Resume host operations at the Cnt Ac-J Z remote site.
3. Release the Cnt Ac-S Z pair using the YKDELETE command.
4. Make sure the Cnt Ac-J Z pair is resynchronized so that the copy flow is from S-VOL to P-VOL.
Use the YKRESYNC REVERSE command to resync the pair.
5. Stop host operations at the Cnt Ac-J Z remote site.
6. Run the YKSUSPND FORWARD command on the Cnt Ac-J Z pair.
7. Resume host operations at the local site.
8. Reverse the copy flow on the Cnt Ac-J Z pair using the YKRESYNC FORWARD command.
Copy flow is returned to its original direction, P-VOL to S-VOL.
9. Re-create the Cnt Ac-S Z pair using the YKMAKE command.
The system is now changed back to the original 3DC multi-target configuration.
Recovery in a delta resync configuration
Host operations are transferred to the Continuous Access Synchronous Z S-VOL in the intermediate
site when a disaster or failure occurs in the local site in a delta resync configuration. Then you run
