HP Performance Optimized Datacenter 20c User Guide - China
Power up procedure 73
ECS and EPO
Verify the following on the ECS screen and EPO indicators:
• The ECS panel is operational and displaying the user interface.
• The POD lighting is operational.
• The EPO system is set to Armed (White) or Bypass (Green).
POD heating procedure
1. On the ECS screen, verify that all system components are operational (green) and there are no faults.
2. On the ECS screen, verify that the POD chilled water flow rate has been established on the flow rate
indicator.
3. Determine the hot aisle temperature:
o If the hot aisle temperature is at or above -25ºC (13ºF), continue to the next step.
o If the hot aisle temperature is not at or above -25ºC (13ºF), continue monitoring the hot aisle
temperature until it reaches -25ºC (13ºF) and continue this warmup procedure for 60 minutes before
proceeding.
4. Record the cold aisle temperature through the ECS. The recorded temperature is the starting
temperature of the servers.
IMPORTANT: With non-operating servers, the temperature rate of change should not exceed
20ºC (68ºF) per hour. At higher elevations, the rate of change must be reduced by 1ºC (34ºF) for
every 305 m (1,000 ft) above sea level.
5. When the cold aisle temperatures have reached a minimum of 10ºC (50ºF), continue to maintain this
temperature for at least 60 minutes prior to proceeding.
6. Set the POD chilled water flow control, and be sure all fans are in AUTO mode.
CAUTION: Do not continue the start up procedures unless the chilled water flow control valve
and the fans are in AUTO mode.
POD operation
1. In the hot aisle, close the power drop box breakers for each rack and ensure that the IT equipment is
operating.
2. In the cold aisle, monitor the flow control position, chilled water flow, and POD temperatures.
3. Wait 5 minutes to allow the system to stabilize.
The HP POD 20c is now fully operational and the control system automatically controls the fans and the flow
control valve position.
Power down procedure
1. Power down all IT equipment.
2. Open all POD power drop box breakers.
3. Monitor the system parameters and allow the POD to cool to an acceptable temperature. Be sure that
the cold aisle temperature does not fall below 10°C (50°F.)
