Chapter 7 VLAN Mapping Configuration
7.1 VLAN Mapping Overview
VLAN mapping includes the following types:
z one-to-one VLAN mapping
z many-to-one VLAN mapping
z one-to-two VLAN mapping
z two-to-two VLAN mapping
Note:
Currently, the S7500E series support only one-to-one VLAN mapping.
The following part introduces how one-to-one VLAN mapping is implemented and
applied.
7.1.1 Basic Concepts in VLAN Mapping
The following concepts are defined for you to understand the configuration procedure
below better.
z Uplink data stream refers to the data stream transmitted from a home user
network to a distribution network or from a user network to an SP (service provider)
network.
z Downlink data stream refers to the data stream transmitted from a distribution
network to a home user network or from an SP network to a user network.
z Uplink port refers to the port transmitting uplink data streams and receiving
downlink data streams.
z Downlink port refers to the port transmitting downlink data streams and receiving
uplink data streams.
z Uplink policy refers to the QoS policy containing VLAN mapping rules for uplink
data streams.
z Downlink policy refers to the QoS policy containing VLAN mapping rules for
downlink data streams.
7.1.2 How One-to-One VLAN Mapping is Implemented
For uplink data streams, map the customer VLAN (CVLAN) to the service provider
VLAN (SVLAN) by applying a QoS policy to the port.
