This method is disruptive. If you are upgrading MPUs, you
must reboot the switch to complete the upgrade. If you are
upgrading the BootWare of a card (an LPU or switching
fabric module), you must reboot the card.
NOTE:
You can upgrade the BootWare of LPUs and switching
fabric modules from the CLI only.

Use this method when the device cannot start up correctly.
Performing an ISSU

ISSU enables a software upgrade without service
interruption.
Patches repair software defects and do not add new
features to Comware software.
This chapter covers only installing patches. For
information about using ISSU to upgrade Comware
images, see Fundamentals Configuration Guide in HP

to ensure software version consistency across
MPUs.

Upgrading from the CLI without using ISSU
This section describes the upgrade procedures for standalone HP 1190 0 switches and 11900 IRF fabrics.

Upgrading a standalone switch
