TFTP Upgrades
■
If a TFTP server is required, please see the following
3Com Website:
http://support.3com.com/software/utilities_for
_windows_32_bit.htm
■
Note that when initiating a TFTP upgrade using the
Web Interface or CLI, if an incorrect TFTP server IP
address is entered you will not be able to correct the IP
address until the TFTP upgrade operation has timed
out. The default time out period is 3 minutes.
Software Upgrades
The Switch 4300 agent software may be updated in the
future. Please see the following 3Com Website for further
information:
http://support.3com.com/software/switches.htm
Web Browser
■
If you use Netscape to manage your Switch you may
experience problems when trying to change the user
password.
3Com recommends that if you use Netscape and you
need to change the password you do so via the CLI. To
do this, from the Web Interface’s Device View, use the
System > Telnet > Connect
operation to start a Telnet
connection and then use the
security device
user modify
CLI command.
■
If you are using an early version of either Internet
Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 4.0 to access the Web
Interface, some of the screens may not appear to
update once the information has been changed. If this
happens, you might need to adjust the cache settings
on your browser to solve this.
For Internet Explorer 5.0, select from the tool bar:
Tools Menu > Internet Options > Temporary Internet
Files > Settings > Every Visit to the Page
. Click
OK
twice.
For Netscape 4.0, select from the tool bar:
Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Cache > Everytime
.
Click
OK
.
■
The Switch 4300 Web Interface does not support
Netscape Navigator version 6 and any browser running
on a Sun Solaris workstation.
The Command Line Interface
The command
bridge multicast router port
addport
has been modified in the CLI. When you add a
router port to the Switch, it must be added to each VLAN
separately.
The
physicalinteface ethernet portcapabil-
ities
command has been removed from the CLI and is
no longer supported.
