Providing SIP Trunk Connectivity
The use of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunks to provide SIP connectivity
is a rapidly expanding part of the network capabilities in many businesses
today. The potential to reduce equipment and service costs, increase flexibility
in network expansion, and provide both voice and data over the same connec-
tion makes a very compelling case for the use of SIP Trunking. The HP
AllianceONE Services zl Module for Avaya Aura™ Session Border Controller
powered by Acme Packet is used for creating SIP trunks between a SIP Server
and Service Providers on your existing HP 5400zl and 8200zl switches,
providing end-to-end SIP connectivity. (The 5400zl and 8200zl switches are
being rebranded; going forward these products will be branded as the E5400zl
and the E8200zl switches.)
Figure 1-1 shows how the HP AllianceONE Services zl Module for Avaya
Aura™ Session Border Controller is deployed in a network. The Avaya Aura™
Session Border Controller Application uses SIP Trunks to communicate with
your internal, private network SIP applications and endpoints while allowing
secure connection to public, third-party SIP service providers.
