HP Advanced Services zl Module with Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 R2 Installation and Getting Started Guide

Getting Started
Access the Module using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)
1. Access the Network Connections window through the Control Panel.

2. You should see three Local Area Connection interfaces. The Windows
Server 2008 R2 assigns these interfaces to the module’s three ports when
it boots up. You can determine which interface is assigned to which port
by examining the IP address, speed, and status:
One interface is a Gigabit interface. If you check its IP address, the
address is 192.168.2.10. This interface is associated with the module’s
management port.
One interface is an enabled 10 Gigabit interface. This interface has
the IP address that has been assigned to the module on your network.
Or, if you are accessing the module for the first time through the
management port, the interface might have a self-assigned IP address,
beginning with 169.254. This interface is associated with the module’s
<slot>2 internal port.
Important If you try to disable the interface associated with the <slot>2 port, the server
will automatically bring the interface back up so that the interface can
continue to carry necessary Services Management Agent (SMA) communica-
tions. However, it is recommended that you do not attempt to disable this
interface.
One interface is a disabled 10 Gigabit interface. This interface is
associated with the module’s <slot>1 internal port.
