HP Advanced Services zl Module with Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 R2 Installation and Getting Started Guide

Troubleshooting
Gain Access to a Module that Has No Network Connectivity
You might also check the HP zl switch configuration for issues:
The module interface through which you access the server running on the
module is disabled. Note that, if the module’s interface 2 is disabled, you
cannot access the module CLI. You should enable the interface immedi-
ately.
The module port through which you access the server has been assigned
to the wrong VLAN, the port is tagged rather than untagged for the VLAN,
or the port is untagged for the VLAN when it should be tagged.
If none of these tips help you to regain RDP access to the module, consider
whether someone might have activated Hyper-V on an interface. When Hyper-
V is active on an interface, both the physical and virtual interface must be
enabled for you to access the module on it. However, you cannot enable a
virtual interface from the module CLI. Therefore, you have two options:
If possible, use the CLI to set up access through another module interface
(if you have physical access to the module, preferably the management
interface). Then access the server using RDP and enable the virtual
interface.
If you cannot use the CLI to set up access through another module
interface, you must access the module’s SAC. From the SAC, you can
determine the IP addresses assigned to module interfaces and also enable
both physical and virtual interfaces. See “Restore the Module’s Interfaces
using the SAC” on page 5-6.
You should also consider whether firewall policies might be preventing legit-
imate access. You can enable and disable the server firewall from the module
CLI although disabling the firewall on a server in a live network is not
recommended. You can also access the Windows command line using the
module’s SAC. See “SAC” on page 3-7 of Chapter 3: “Management.”
Restore the Module’s Interfaces using the SAC
This section explains how to use the SAC to regain access to the module if an
unsupported Hyper-V interface configuration has caused you to lose all other
forms of access. (See “Module’s Behavior Based on Enabled and Disabled
Interfaces” on page 5-9.) Follow these steps:
1. Access the CLI for the HP zl switch chassis in which the module is
installed.
2. Move to global configuration mode:
hostzlswitch# config
