HP Advanced Services zl Module with Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 R2 Planning and Design Guide

Solution 2: Survivable Wireless Networking
Solution Components
With the Mobility Controller and these Windows services deployed locally at
the high school, users’ wired and wireless access is protected in the event of
a WAN link failure. The HP E5406 zl switch will now support IP routing as a
backup default gateway, ensuring that users’ routed traffic can reach the
Internet in the event of a WAN link failure.
In addition, the Windows services on the module deployed at the branch can
server as a backup for the servers at the district office.
The school district can deploy other services on the Windows Server 2008 R2
that is running on the module as needed. For example, the server will also
support print services and file services, making those services more respon-
sive and also protecting them against WAN failure.
