Solution 3: Survivable Communications
Solution Implementation
Branch HP zl Switch
You can configure whatever features your environment requires on the HP zl
switch that hosts the Advanced Services zl Module and the SBM. The sections
below provide guidelines for the specific configurations required by this
solution.
Software Version
The HP zl switch in which you install the modules that support this solution
requires software version K.14.65, K.15.03, or greater. Version K.15.03 or
greater is recommended because it supports seamless failover from an active
to a standby management module on E8200 zl Series switches.
VLAN and IP Addressing
In this example implementation, the HP E5406 zl switch (10.4.2.2) hosts the
modules and provides basic LAN connectivity. It also connects to a WAN
router (10.4.2.1), which provides IP routing and connects the branch LAN to
the data center.
The branch LAN itself consists of a single data VLAN (VLAN 42) and a single
voice VLAN (VLAN 41).
You must also establish the correct VLAN assignments for the internal inter-
faces on the modules included in this solution:
The module running the Windows Server 2008 R2 (slot E):
Internal interface 1—This interface is disabled by default and will
remain disabled in the default VLAN.
Internal interface 2—This interface is placed in the data VLAN 42
(untagged). The IP address will be 10.4.2.30/24.
SBM (slots D and F):
Internal interface 1—This interface is disabled by default and will
remain in the default VLAN.
Internal interface 2—This interface is assigned to the voice VLAN 41
(untagged). The IP address will be 10.4.1.20/24.
