Adding or Changing the Management Interface IP
Address
Important The default management interface port, vmnic1, is an internal
10-GbE port on the switch backplane, switch port
<slot-ID>2, an untagged
member of the default VLAN (VLAN 1) .
By default, the ESXi host uses DHCP to acquire an IP address for this port. If
successful, the management interface IP address is displayed when you access
the direct console from the switch CLI. If no IP address is assigned, 0.0.0.0 is
displayed.
To access a DHCP server, add the switch port
<slot-ID>2 as an untagged member
to a VLAN that provides the DHCP service required and restart the module
using the services <slot-ID> reload command from the switch CLI manager or
manager/configure context.
Use the menu-based direct console or vSphere Client to manage the manage-
ment interface of the ESXi host.
