Background for Planning NIM Policies
Before you start the design process, it is useful to have a picture of how the policy-setting process
works. This section provides a general overview to help you become familiar with the process.
Do not think of this overview as a set of instructions: you will find those instructions in the
HP
ProCurve Threat Management Solution Implementation Guide
(which will be released in May
2009). Instead, use the overview to understand the process flow and terminology.
Events
Events are central to NIM. You will see the relevant NIM events, as well as other event types,
in the PCM+ Events window, which is shown below. (To view this window, select a device,
device group, agent, or agent group in the PCM+ navigation tree and click the Events tab.)
