Secure system software image—Used when the backup system software image is invalid.
If the secure system software image is also invalid, the system displays a failure prompt.
A system software image is an .bin file such as main.bin.
The system software images of the NetStream card are saved in a CF card by default.
Configuration file
A configuration file saves the configuration you make on the NetStream card.
Upgrade methods
You can upgrade system software by using one of the following methods:

Upgrading from the CLI
You must reboot the NetStream card to complete the
upgrade.
This method can interrupt ongoing network services.
Upgrading from the BootWare
menu
Use this method when the NetStream card cannot
correctly start up.
Preparing for the upgrade
IMPORTANT:
NetStream cards are not shipped with TFTP or FTP server software. Prepare it by
yourself.
Configuration files of different versions may not be compatible. The upgrade can cause
the configuration in the configured files invalid. For information about configuration file
compatibility, see the Release Notes.
Before you upgrade system software, complete the following tasks:
Set up the upgrade environment as shown in Figure 1 .
Run a TFTP or FTP server on the file server.
The NetStream card functions as the TFTP or FTP client.
Assign an IP address to the file server to make sure that the NetStream card and the file
server can reach each other.
Log in to the CLI of the NetStream card through the console port.
Copy the upgrade file to the file server and correctly set the working directory on the
TFTP or FTP server.
Make sure that the upgrade has minimal impact on the network services. During the
upgrade, the NetStream card cannot provide any services.
