Post-SBM Installment Tasks
Post-SBM Installment Tasks
After the SBM has been installed, a CS Administrator or CS User Administrator
can assign branch Lync users to the SBM’s pool. Before completing this task,
it is recommended that you verify that:
■ The SBM is installed and running.
■ The SBM installer has completed the Setup Wizard.
Verify that the Lync test call was successful. You might want to ask the
SBM installer to place calls that are routed in different ways to fully test
the SBM functionality)
■ Features such as Caller ID and emergency calls are functional
When you are sure that the SBM is ready to support the branch users, assign
the users to the SBM using the Lync Server Control Panel or Lync Server
Management Shell (as you prefer).
The branch users might currently be registering to the central site’s Front-End
Server or pool. In that case, move these users to the SBM. If they are not
enabled for Enterprise Voice, complete that task as well.
If the branch users are not currently using Lync, add them to Lync, enable
them for Enterprise Voice and other Lync features, and assign the users to the
SBM.
The SBM will be the primary Registrar for Lync users that you assign to it.
When you add the SBM to the topology as a survivable branch appliance, the
central site’s Front-End Server or Server pool automatically became the
backup Registrar for all of the SBM’s user).
