Example Solutions
Solution
The medium branch at Seattle has about 250 users. Using the same criteria as
at Dallas, you can estimate that the Seattle branch office needs 25 voice
channels. The branch also has two fax machines. The company could pur-
chase a Single-Port T1/E1 Telephony Card (24 channels with T1) and a Two-
Port FXS/Two-Port FXO Telephony Card (support for two fax machines and
two analog lines). However, the company decides to allow for growth and
purchases a Two-Port T1/E1 Telephony Card and a Four-Port FXS Telephony
Card instead.
Set Up the Data Center
This section provides steps for preparing the domain and the Lync Server
topology for this SBM solution.
Add the SBM Computer Object
You must first create a computer object for each SBM. Table 4-1 displays the
objects for the solution outlined in this chapter.
Table 4-1. SBM Computer Objects
To create these objects, you must be a domain or enterprise administrator.
Follow these steps to create the computer object for the Seattle SBM:
1. Log in to a domain controller server as a Domain or Enterprise Admin.
Access the Active Directory Users and Computers window (Start >
Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers).
2. Expand the domain. Right-click the Computers folder and select New >
Computer.
