Create DHCP Reservations
The administrators at the example company want to control the IP addresses
for the SBMs, so they will create a DHCP reservation for each. These reserva-
tions are created in the scope for the voice VLAN at each branch.
Table 4-3. SBM DHCP Reservations
Note The MAC address is the MAC address for the SBM’s Ethernet interface 2. To
find this address, view the MAC address listed on the label on the underside
of the module. This is the MAC address of the Ethernet interface 1; the MAC
address of the Ethernet interface 2 is this address incremented by one—for
example, 00-24-C5-39-58 and 00-24-C5-39-59.
To add a DHCP reservation for the Seattle SBM, follow these steps:
1. Log in to the DHCP server, or server with remote administrative tools, as
a Domain or Enterprise Admin.
2. Access the DHCP window (Start > Administrative Tools > DHCP).
3. Expand the server and IPv4 folders. Expand the scope in which you want
to assign the SBM an IP address. Typically, this is the scope for the voice
VLAN at the branch site, which is VLAN41(Seattle_Voice) in this example.
Note The SBM does not support IPv6.

SBM Scope IP Address MAC Address
Seattle SBM VLAN41(Seattle_Voice) 10.4.1.254 00-24-C5-39-59
Dallas SBM VLAN31(Dallas_Voice) 10.3.1.254 00-24-C5-39-63
