Arrange for the SBM Certificate
The SBM requires a certificate. When you install the SBM, you are prompted
to generate a certificate request, which must then be submitted to a Certificate
Authority (CA) that can generate a certificate for the SBM.
To ensure that this process goes smoothly, you should contact the person at
your company—such as the domain CA administrator—who handles these
requests now and let the administrator know when you anticipate sending the
request. The domain CA administrator will then be prepared to generate the
certificate, and you will know how long it takes to receive the certificate after
the request is submitted.
Verify that QoS is Enabled for the SBM (Optional)
Depending on your solution, the SBM’s Mediation Server might forward some
voice packets through the LAN and WAN. It would do so when the SBM is
forwarding calls through a remote PSTN gateway, and Media Bypass is not
enabled for that gateway. If this is the case for your solution, enable QoS for
the SBM, which enables the Mediation Server to mark voice packets with the
proper QoS.
The default Lync global policy enables QoS. A CS Administrator can check the
policies by entering this cmdlet from the Lync Server Management Shell: Get-
CsMediaConfiguration. The Enable QoS value should be true.
