HP Survivable Branch Communication zl Module powered by Microsoft Lync Planning and Design Guide 2011-02
4-61
Example Solutions
Solution
Complete the following steps to configure the HP zl switch to support the
Lync-based UC&C solution:
1. Create the voice VLAN and tag all switch ports that connect to IP phones
for that VLAN.
Seattle-8212zl(config)# vlan 41
Seattle-8212zl(config-vlan41)# name “Voice”
Seattle-8212zl(config-vlan41)# tagged a1-a24,
b1-b24,f1-f23
Seattle-8212zl(config-vlan41)# voice
Seattle-8212zl(config-vlan41)# exit
2. Enable DSCP-based QoS and map DSCP 40 to CoS 6:
Seattle-8212zl(config)# qos type-of-service diff-
services
Seattle-8212zl(config)# qos dscp-map 101000 priority
6 name lync_call
3. Synchronize the time to the domain controller’s time, set the timezone,
and configure the rule for Daylight Saving Time:
Seattle-8212zl(config)# timesync sntp
Seattle-8212zl(config)# sntp unicast
Seattle-8212zl(config)# sntp server priority 1
10.1.2.10
Seattle-8212zl(config)# time timezone -480
Seattle-8212zl(config)# time daylight-time-rule
continental-us-and-canada
4. The HP zl switch requires software version K.14.60 or later to recognize
the SBM. If this software is not installed, update the switch now, following
the instructions provided in your switch’s documentation.
Important If you have other switches in your LAN, you must complete steps 1 and 2 on
these switches. That is, you must create the voice VLAN, tag any switch ports
that connect to IP phones for that VLAN, and configure the QoS settings.
