Third-party SIP phones require their own managers. In order for these third-
party phones and your Lync clients to communicate, the call must pass
through a Microsoft-certified PBX.
Communications
You will now examine in more detail how the SBM handles communications,
and in particular audio calls.
First, examine a peer-to-peer call, which this guide will define as a call between
two Lync users, either both at the branch (local peer-to-peer) or one at the
branch and one at another site (remote peer-to-peer).
