HP TMS zl Module Security Administrator's Guide

Managing TMS zl Modules
Introduction
3. Configure an IP address for the module in the Management VLAN and
allow the switch to have access via that VLAN. You do not need to
configure an IP address for the module in the HA VLAN if you are using
NIM to create the HA cluster.
4. Enable SNMPv2 or SNMPv3, and configure the SNMP communication
parameters. Remember these settings because you will configure them
for PCM. The SNMP configuration settings that you configure on the
switch must be matched by the configuration in PCM, and matched
between the two modules in an HA cluster.
SNMPv1/v2:
The default values, if you just enable SNMPv1/v2 are:
private manager unrestricted
public manager restricted
These parameters are configured in PCM as follows:
1. Right click the TMS zl Module entry in the navigation tree.
2. Select Device Access.
3. Select Communication Parameters in PCM.
4. Click Next in the welcome window.
5. In the Configure the settings window, select SNMP Settings and click
Next.
6. In the Configure SNMP Timeout and Retries window, you can accept the
default settings or modify them as you would like. Then, click Next.
7. In the Configure SNMP Version window, select SNMPv1/v2. Then click
Next.
8. In the Configure SNMP V2 Credentials window, uncheck the Use PCM
Defaults? checkbox, then make sure that the Read Community and
Write Community values match the configuration on the modules. The
default configuration on the TMS zl Module is public for the Read
Community and private for the Write community. The default values
in PCM are public and public, so at minimum, the Write community
value must be changed to private to match the TMS zl Module default
value. Then click Finish.
SNMPv3:
There are no default users if you just enable SNMPv3 on the TMS zl
Module, but at least one user is require to complete the configuration in
PCM, so a user must be configured via the CLI or Web browser interface
on the TMS zl Module too. To match the configuration in PCM, follow
these steps:
