Managing TMS zl Modules
Configuring High Availability Clusters
c. Save the configuration of the future Participant as this allows you to
quickly reconfigure the module if you have at some point removed it
from the cluster. The configuration is lost when you remove the
module from the cluster.
2. After the TMS property synchronization completes, open the Create HA
Cluster window by one of these methods:
Right click the TMS zl folder in the navigation tree, select TMS-High
Availability, and then select Create Cluster.
Click the TMS High Availability button in the TMS-High Availability
tab's toolbar and select Create Cluster.
Create Cluster is disabled if a new cluster cannot be created at this time,
for example, when all TMS zl Modules managed by NIM TMS management
are already assigned to an HA cluster. (TMS zl Modules that are already
in an HA cluster cannot be moved to another HA cluster without first
removing them from their current HA cluster.)
An example Create Cluster window is shown in Figure 1-30 on page 1-55.
3. Select a unique Cluster ID for the cluster. Up to 16 clusters can be config-
ured.
4. The Active-Standby setting is shown for the Cluster Scheme. This is the
required setting for creating an HA cluster, so it is not configurable. In
Active-Standby mode, the cluster Master handles data processing, and the
Participant acts as a passive backup to the Master.
5. Accept the default Multicast IP address for the cluster data protocol
(224.0.0.18). If you are already using this address on your network for
another protocol, then enter a different multicast address.
Valid Multicast IP addresses are in the range 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255.
The addresses between 224.0.0.0 and 224.0.0.255 are reserved for routing
messages. Private organizations can designate other multicast addresses
for their own purposes. Private multicast addresses for local networks
range from 239.255.0.0 to 239.255.255.255. For a list of multicast
addresses, visit http://www.iana.org/assignments/
multicast-addresses.
6. For each module:
a. Select the agent that is managing the module.
b. From the drop down lists, select the module that will be the Master,
and the module that will be the Participant. All the TMS zl Modules
discovered by NIM, which are not already members of an HA cluster
