Managing TMS zl Modules
Configuring High Availability Clusters
Import an HA Cluster Into NIM
HA clusters can be configured via either the TMS zl Module CLI or Web
browser interface. However, until the following procedures are performed,
the cluster will not be shown in NIM, and it cannot be managed by NIM.
Note For clusters configured in NIM, the Participant modules are automatically
removed from the PCM navigation tree and are not visible in the Devices List.
For clusters configured via the TMS zl Module CLI or web browser interface
and imported into NIM, the Participant modules remain visible in the naviga-
tion tree, but are not reachable. They can be deleted from the navigation tree
without affecting the cluster.
The Participant module information can be seen by clicking on the View button
on the right side of the cluster information in the TMS - High Availability window.
The High Availability Cluster Details window displays the current complete
information for that HA cluster.
To import an HA cluster into NIM:
1. First, make sure that the SNMP configuration is the same on both of the
modules.
2. If the modules have already been discovered by PCM and are in the device
navigation tree, then go to step 3.
If the modules in the cluster have not yet been discovered in PCM (they
are not in the device navigation tree on the left in PCM), then the first step
is to perform a manual discovery of the Master module in the cluster.
a. From the PCM Tools menu, select Manual Discovery Wizard.
b. In the Welcome window, click Next.
c. In the Enter Device Information window, enter the IP address of the
Master module.
d. If necessary, use the drop down list to select the agent that is being
used to manage the Master module.
e. If you are not using the default SNMP communication parameters to
communicate with the module, then uncheck the Use Defaults box.
You will specify the SNMP communication parameters that you are
using in the subsequent two windows.
f. Click Next.
g. A progress window is shown indicating the success of the SNMP
communication testing and the discovery of the module.
