Managing TMS zl Modules
Configuring High Availability Clusters
Removing a Module from an HA Cluster
You may need to remove a module from a cluster for a number of reasons
including:
■ You want to deploy the module in another location in the network, or
for another purpose.
■ New software must be loaded on the module (requires removing the
module from the cluster first).
■ You want to replace the module with a newer version.
You can remove a module from a cluster by using NIM, the CLI, or the module
Web browser interface. The NIM process will result in a different subsequent
cluster status than the processes that use the other two interfaces.
Removing a Module Using NIM
Note This procedure applies only to Master modules. Participant modules are
unreachable because the network IP address that was originally configured
on them is hidden by the cluster creation process.
1. Prior to removing the module from the cluster, it is recommended that
you perform Synchronize Cluster for the cluster from which the selected
device will be removed, or Synchronize Configuration on the Master module
being removed. These processes copy the Master’s configuration to the
Participant to assure that the configuration is not lost when the Master is
removed from the cluster. See “Synchronizing the HA Cluster or HA
Configuration” on page 1-71 for these synchronization procedures.
2. In the navigation tree, right-click the Master module to be removed from
the cluster.
a. Select TMS-High Availability.
b. Select Remove Device from Cluster. This option is disabled if the
selected module does not belong to an HA cluster. The following
popup appears indicating what happens to the configuration on the
Master module. Click Yes to continue.
