Managing TMS zl Modules
Configuring High Availability Clusters
Removing an HA Cluster
You can remove a whole HA cluster using only NIM, which results in the
configurations of the Master and Participant modules being reversed. Alter-
natively, you can remove the cluster by using a combination of the TMS zl
Module CLI and NIM, which preserves the cluster configuration on the original
Master module. In both cases, when the process completes, the cluster is no
longer operational.
Removing the Cluster with Module Configuration Reversal
Removing a cluster using only NIM causes the configurations of the Master
and Participant modules to be reversed. In this process, the Master module is
removed from the cluster first, which causes the Master module’s configura-
tion to be copied to the Participant module, and the Participant to temporarily
take over as the new Master. In the second phase of the cluster removal, the
former Participant module, which is now the Master, is removed, but it retains
the module configuration.
To remove the cluster and allow the configurations of the modules to be
reversed:
1. Synchronize the TMS zl properties of the Master module in the cluster.
See “Synchronizing TMS zl Properties” on page 1-17 for this procedure
and select the Master module of the cluster that you will remove. For the
properties to synchronize, select the entire System folder, as shown in
Figure on page 1-58.
2. Synchronize the configurations between the two modules in the cluster.
See “Synchronize HA Cluster” on page 1-71 for this procedure.
3. Open the Remove Cluster window by one of these methods:
Right-click the TMS zl folder in the navigation tree, select TMS-High
Availability, and then select Remove Cluster.
Click the TMS High Availability menu button in the TMS-High Avail-
ability tab's toolbar and selecting Remove Cluster.
At least one cluster must be known to NIM TMS management or the
Remove Cluster option is disabled.
4. When the caution popup appears, confirm that the cluster member IP
addresses can be removed and click Yes. To restore the IP addresses to
the modules, you will need to follow the manual configuration procedures
described in the Introduction of this chapter.
