Configuring an aggregation group
You can choose to create a Layer 2 or Layer 3 link aggregation group depending on the ports to be
aggregated:
• To aggregate Layer 2 Ethernet interfaces, create a Layer 2 link aggregation group.
• To aggregate Layer 3 Ethernet interfaces, create a Layer 3 link aggregation group.
Configuration guidelines
When you configure an aggregation group, follow these guidelines:
• You cannot assign a port to a Layer 2 aggregation group if any of the features listed in Table 12 is
configured o
n the port.

• You cannot assign a port to a Layer 3 aggregation group if any of the features listed in Table 13 is
configured on the port.

• Interfaces configured with static MAC addresses can join a aggregation group.
• Removing an aggregate interface also removes its aggregation group. At the same time, all
member ports leave the aggregation group.
Configuring a Layer 2 static aggregation group
To guarantee a successful static aggregation, make sure the ports at both ends of each link are in the
same aggregation state.
