Configuring Authentication
Built-in RADIUS Server—Authentication Server
To configure the 802.1X/WPA Authentication Service as the authentication server:
Step 1. From the Navigation bar, click RIGHTS, then click Authentication Policies.
Step 2. Click the Authentication Services link in the left panel to go to the Authentication Services page.
Step 3. On the Authentication Services page, click New Service.
Step 4. Click the 802.1X/WPA link in the left-hand panel of the page.
The 802.1X/WPA page appears (see Figure 5-6).
Note:
There is only one configuration allowed for 802.1X/WPA authentication. Therefore, you can edit
the RADIUS configuration for this service, but you cannot create a second 802.1X/WPA service.

Step 5. The information required to configure the RADIUS service for 802.1X/WPA authentication is
defined in Table 5-7 as follows:
Step 6. Click Save to save your changes.
Step 7. You will need to add the access points (RADIUS clients) participating in 802.1X/WPA
authentication. To add or view the RADIUS clients, click
Clients. The Clients page appears and
displays the Clients table (Figure 5-7).
To edit a Client, click the Client name or the pencil icon at the end of the row. This takes you to
the Edit Client page.

Field/Option Description
Port The UDP port number for the built-in RADIUS server. The default authentication
port number is 1812. The default accounting port number is one greater than the
authentication port (1813).
WPA Role Select Use User DB to configure the built-in RADIUS server as the authentication
server.
Log Authentication req/reply Check the checkbox to log all authentication requests and responses to aid in
troubleshooting by ProCurve Technical Support.
