Configuring the Network
Note: If the DHCP server is appropriately provisioned, the Domain Name, DNS, and WINS settings may
be returned by the DHCP server, so you do not need to enter them here. The Domain Name, DNS, and
WINS settings must be specified when using static IPs.
At the bottom of the page is a list of subnets that are members of this subnet group. You can select or
change the subnet that is designated as the primary subnet.
Click
Save to save your changes and add the new subnet to the Subnet Groups list.
The Subnets Tab
A subnet is a portion of a network that shares a common address component. This tab shows all the
subnets defined within the 700wl Series system -- either defined globally from within the Global
Network page, or configured on individual Access Controller uplinks through the Local Network
pages.
Figure 6-10. The Subnets Tab on the Global Network page
Creating a global subnet under the Global Network page means it will be available on each Local
Network page to be used when defining uplink VLANs. If you have multiple Access Controllers that all
communicate with the same subnets, defining these subnets globally can save time as it will not be
necessary to specify the subnet information repeatedly for each Access Controller.
To create a new Subnet click New Subnet.
To edit a subnet specification, click the Subnet name to edit an existing subnet.
The New Subnet page appears, as shown in Figure 6-11.
Secondary WINS The IP address of the secondary WINS server.
