Configuring the Network
Figure 6-12. The Local Networks Basic Setup Tab
Step 2. In the System Components List at the left, select the component you want to configure. If you
have a redundant peer configured, there may be two Access Control Servers shown.
The first row on this page always shows the default (untagged) subnet configured on the uplink
of the device. Initially, this is the device subnet configuration that was entered when the device
was installed. The VLAN ID for this subnet is None, indicating it is untagged.
Step 3. To configure a new upstream VLAN, click the New VLAN button. This adds an empty row to the
Basic Setup page, as shown in Figure 6-12.
a. In the VLAN field, enter a VLAN ID for the subnet. VLAN IDs must be in the range of 1 to
4094. A VLAN ID may be used only once on an individual Access Controller (or Integrated
Access Manager).
b. In the Subnet field, either select a predefined Global Subnet from the drop-down list, or leave
the Subnet set to
-Auto-.
— Select a Global Subnet from the dropdown list to configure that subnet on the uplink of
this device, associated with the specified VLAN tag. The IP address, hostname (if
defined) subnet mask, and gateway IP address are inherited from the Global Subnet.
Once you have configured a Global Subnet as a local network, you cannot use that
subnet, or any other subnet in the same Subnet Group, on this Access Controller.
— Select
-Auto- to specify the subnet settings locally. When you save these settings, the
Access Control Server will determine the appropriate Subnet Group match for the new
subnet. A new Global Subnet and Global Subnet Group are automatically created if
necessary.
