PCIe Analog Card (FXO or FXS) and Digital Card Installation Instructions
for the HP Extended Services zl Module
These instructions describe how to install analog and digital PCIe cards into the HP Extended Services zl Module. The HP Extended Services zl
Module has two PCIe slots and any of the available PCIe cards can be installed in either of the slots. Any combination of these cards can be used.
The following PCIe cards are available:
Installing an Analog PCIe Card
Read these instructions completely
before installing your PCIe Card.
• 4-Port FXS Analog Card (J9482A) • 1-Port T1/E1 Digital Card (J9487A)
• 4-Port FXO Analog Card (J9516A) • 2-Port T1/E1 Digital Card (J9488A)
• 2-Port FXO and 2-Port FXS Analog Card (J9518A) • 4-Port T1/E1 Digital Card (J9489A)
The FAX Synchronization Cable and the Power Cable Assembly are pre-installed on each Analog Card.
Note: The FAX Synchronization Cable is needed only when the Analog Card has FXS Ports to which a FAX machine is connected or may be
connected, and a Digital Card is also installed in the HP Extended Services zl Module. For all other configurations, the FAX Synchronization Cable
may be disconnected from the card, before proceeding.
Loosen the retaining screw and remove the slot cover from either
PCIe slot of the HP Extended Services zl Module. (The illustration
shows the card being installed in the upper slot, but either slot can
be used.) Also remove the plastic shield from the PCIe connector
on the module, if the shield is still present.
➊ Install the Analog Card
in the slot, and ➋ tighten retaining screw. Make sure the card is
plugged straight in to the PCIe connector.
➌ Connect the power cable on the Analog Card to either of the
power receptacles provided on the HP Extended Services zl
Module.
The Analog Card is now fully installed in the HP Extended
Services zl Module.
