PCM+ Agent with ONE zl Module Installation and Getting Started Guide 2009-11

1-3
Getting Started
Setup
NOTE A PCM+ 3.10 Server will support any combination of Server-initiated and
Agent-initiated connections. Remote Agents that initiate the connection must
all use the same port, encryption type, and server password.
The “Example PCM+ Agent Module Deployment” on page 1-27, shows a remote
Agent communicating through a firewall to a PCM+ 3.10 Server. A Client
outside the firewall can manage devices behind the firewall using a proxy
configured on the PCM+ Agent Module.
Setup
Before beginning these steps, you should install the ONE Services zl Module
into an HP ProCurve 5400zl Series switch or HP ProCurve 8200zl Series switch.
For step-by-step installation instructions, see the HP ProCurve Switch ONE
Services zl Module Installation and Getting Started Guide. To download a

The following steps include the loading of the PCM+ Agent Application on a
ProCurve ONE Services zl Module and the initial setup of a PCM+ Agent
Module. If you are using an HP ProCurve PCM+ Agent with ONE zl Module
(J9496A), you should skip to “Activating the PCM+ Agent Application” on page
1-12.
After you have installed the ProCurve ONE Services zl Module, the initial setup
of a PCM+ Agent Module involves the following steps:
1. Verifying the host switch is running software version K.13.71 or greater.
2. Downloading and installing the PCM+ Agent Application from the HP
ProCurve ONE Web site (not necessary for J9496A, shipped with HP
ProCurve PCM+ Agent Application pre-installed).
3. Performing the initial configuration of PCM+ Agent Module.
4. Using the Agent Manager on a PCM+ 3.10 Server, creating and activating
the PCM+ Agent.
