Sundry. This is essentially a fork of a very small portion of Caldera's
"Lizard" system installation tool. Since mdetect does what I need it to,
and because of the licensing, I do not intend to track upstream
development.
Richard Hirst supplied code to save and restore line settings on serial
port devices.
