■ For components running version 3.1.x, using the Administrative Interface, from the Main
Menu, click Update Software. The current software version is listed under Version Information.
■ For components running version 4.1.x, from the Administrative Console you can view system
and client status information by clicking the Status icon at the top of any page. Select the
Equipment Status tab to see components and their software versions.
Locating the Software and Documentation on the CD-ROM
The CD included with the product contains both software version 4.1.3.93 and version 4.1.1.37 and
their documentation. For the version 3.1.128 software and documentation, see the folder
“Software_Version_ 3.1.128” in the folder “700wl _Resources” on the CD.
The ProCurve Series 5300xl switch software version E.09.21 and its documentation are also available
on the CD.
Updating Your System Software
Follow the steps below to download software to a Series 700wl product using the Administrative
Console or the Administrative Interface.
1. The CD contains the files needed for either a local download (use the ‘-dist-’ file for your
component) or a remote download from an FTP, TFTP, or HTTP server (requires two files:
‘ambit-’ and ‘ambit-.chk’ for your component, for example, ambit-4.1.3.93 and ambit-4.1.3.93.chk).
Copy the necessary files from the CD-ROM to a local system or to an FTP, TFTP, or HTTP server.
2. Obtain the required key from the secure Web page on the ProCurve Networking Support Web
site. Go to
http://www.hp.com/go/procurve, and click on Software updates then 700wl series. Follow
the instructions on the page to obtain the username and password needed to access the secure
Web page. The key for each version is listed there.
3. If you are downloading new software to a component that has been configured for use in your
network, HP recommends that you create a backup image and save it to a file on a local system.
See the Management and Configuration Guide for your software version (3.1.x or 4.1.1.x) for
instructions on creating a backup image and saving it to a file.
4. For components running software version 3.1.x, update the system software by clicking Update
Software from the Main Menu. For components running software version 4.1.1.x, update the
system software using the Administrative Console. Under Maintenance/Software Update, select
the Local Update or Remote Update tab.
5. Restart using the alternate version software when the download completes.
