Read Me First

for the HP ProCurve Services zl Module J9154x

Caution

■ A maximum of 4 of any combination of these modules may be installed in any zl switch. If a

fifth module is installed, the fifth module will not boot.

■ For the 5400zl chassis, the J9154X has a dual temperature specification depending on where

the modules are installed. If all four J9154x modules are installed in the left hand side of the

chassis the temperature specification is set to 50

°C for the chassis. If any J9154x modules

are installed on the right hand side of the chassis, then the temperature specification for the

chassis is 40

°C.

■ For the 8212zl chassis, this dual temperature specification does not matter because the

maximum operating temperature specification for the 8212zl chassis is 40

°C.

■ If you are running a 5406zl and want the 50°C temperature specification, then only three

modules are supported in the chassis as that is all the left hand slots there are.

This module comes in three bundles. Check your package to ensure you have the bundle you ordered.

■ J9289A - HP ProCurve ONE Services zl Module with disk drive. Includes two products:

• J9154x - HP ProCurve ONE Services zl Module without the disk drive.

• J9164A - HP ProCurve disk drive.

■ J9155A - HP ProCurve Threat Management Services zl Module. Includes three products:

• J9154x - HP ProCurve ONE Services zl Module without the disk drive.

• J9290A - HP ProCurve disk drive for Threat Management Services zl Module.

• J9139A - Threat Management Services zl Module Ignition Registration ID.

Software Requirements:

For the J9154x (where “x” is the version letter A, B, and so on) module, software release K.13.40 or

greater is required on your zl Switch. To download this version of software, go to the ProCurve Web

site at www.hp.com/networking/support. Auto Search on your switch model, and then click Display

selected, and then Software downloads. For installation and configuration information, refer to

the )NSTALLATIONANDGetting started Guide, that came with your zl module.
