Getting Started

Initial Configuration

At this point, the HP AllianceONE Extended Services zl Module with the

Riverbed

Steelhead

RiOS

Application should be installed in the HP 5400zl

or 8200zl Series switch.

This section guides you through the next steps that must be completed before

you can begin configuring the Steelhead Application:

■ “Ensure the HP zl Switch Recognizes the HP AllianceONE Extended

Services zl Module” on page 3-1

■ “Configure Transparent Mode on the HP zl Switch” on page 3-3

For more information about Transparent Mode, see “Transparent Mode Con-

cepts: Zones and Zone Policies” on page 1-4 in Chapter 1: “Overview.”

Note You must have management access to the HP zl switch in which the Extended

Services zl Module is installed to complete these steps. If you are not in charge

of managing the switch, give the sections below to the HP switch

administrator.

Ensure the HP zl Switch Recognizes the HP

AllianceONE Extended Services zl Module

You should first ensure that the HP zl switch recognizes that the Extended

Services zl Module is installed. From the switch CLI, enter the following

command:

hostswitch# show modules
