Table A-1. Predeployment Tasks
Domain Administration
This section describes the tasks that a member of the Domain Admins group
must complete to ready the domain for an SBM deployment. These steps must
be completed before the CS Administrator adds the SBM to the Lync Server
topology.
Verify Your Groups
First, ensure that your domain has the correct CS and RTC groups, which
should have been added to the domain with the deployment of Microsoft Lync
Server 2010.
Role Task
Enterprise Admin or
Domain Admin
Verify that the domain has the proper groups
Add a computer object for the SBM
Set its service principal name (SPN)
Add or edit a user account for the technician who will
deploy the SBM
Create two test user accounts for the SBM’s Health
Monitoring pool (recommended)
Create a DHCP reservation for the SBM (optional)
Create a DNS entry for the SBM (optional)
CS Administrator Add the branch site and the SBM to the Lync Server
topology
Set up voice routing and dial plans for the SBM site
Assign branch users to the SBM pool
Enable Media Bypass (recommended)
Create a Health Monitoring pool for the SBM
Certificate
Administrator or
person responsible for
obtaining third-party
certificates
Either obtain a private key/certificate for the SBM in
advance or determine how the SBM will request a
certificate
Person responsible for
securing servers
Plan the appropriate security for the SBM
