SBM powered by Microsoft Lync Administrator's Guide 2010-11

Complete the Setup Wizard
Initiate the Installation Process
SBM SPN Prerequisite. This prerequisite fails if the Domain or Enterprise
Administrator has not configured this setting.
Without the proper SPN, the SBM does not receive the proper group member-
ships when it is added to the Lync topology. As far as you are concerned, you
will not be able to complete the setup, and the SBM will not be able to provide
the communication services.
To resolve this issue:
1. Contact the Domain or Enterprise Administrator and ask him or her to
configure the SPN for the SBM’s computer object. The SPN must use this
format:
HOST/<SBM FQDN>
For example:
HOST/HP-SBM.example.hp.com
2. A CS Administrator must enable the Lync topology:
a. Log in to a server that has the Lync Server Management Shell. Open
the shell.
b. Enter Enable-CSTopology.
Before proceeding, wait for the topology to replicate. The replication time
depends on the size of the deployment and on your environment.
SBM Member of RTCSBAUniversalServices Prerequisite. This check
verifies that the SBM computer object has been correctly configured and
added to the topology. If you do not resolve this issue, the SBM might not be
able to replicate the Lync topology and provide communication services. You
will not be able to complete the setup.
To resolve this issue, contact the data center engineers, including the CS
Administrator and the Domain or Enterprise Administrator in charge of the
SBM computer object, and tell them the problem.
Make sure that everyone is using the same FQDN:
SBM’s SPN (HOST/<SBM FQDN>)
Survivable branch server as defined in the Lync Server topology
If the SPN is wrong or not configured, the Domain or Enterprise Administrator
must correct this problem first.
