Dashboard
Table 3-2. Services
The services can be stopped and started by clicking the buttons next to them.
Note that it might appear as if the start or stop pending status remains for a
long time because the Dashboard has not yet refreshed. To check the new
status more quickly, click the Refresh link.
Warning Stopping the Lync Server Front-End, HP Media Gateway, and Mediation
Gateway will interrupt voice services for branch office users.
Stopping the HP Extended Services Platform prevents the SBM from commu-
nicating with the HP zl switch in which it is installed, causing it to fail.
It is also recommended that you always leave the HP SBM Product Application
running. This service is required for the CLI, Setup Wizard, and Dashboard to
function correctly. You should only stop and restart it for troubleshooting
purposes.
Status Description
Lync Server Replica
Replication Agent
The Replication Agent is responsible for receiving information about
the Lync Server topology from the data center and updating the SBM
accordingly.
Lync Server Front-
End
SBM's Lync Server Front-End Server provides communication
services for users assigned to its pool. It manages user registration
and communications routing.
Lync Server
Mediation
The interface between the SBM's Lync Server Front-End Server and
its Media Gateway, the Mediation Server translates signaling and
media in order to present VoIP calls received from the Lync server
infrastructure in the proper format for the Media Gateway, and vice
versa.
HP Extended
Services Platform
The HP Extended Services Platform (also called the HP Services
Management Agent [SMA]) manages communications between the
SBM and the HP zl switch in which it is installed. It must always run
because without it the SBM will fault.
HP SBM Product
Application
This service manages the HP ONE-app OS for SBM. It should always
be running (when it is stopped, you cannot access the SBM CLI).
HP Media Gateway The Media Gateway provides the connection to the PSTN carrier. It
translates signaling and media in order to forward VoIP calls as PSTN
calls and vice versa.
